What is the difference between injection mold and blow mold?

Injection molding and blow molding are two kinds of mold products processing technology, but their processing technology is different, each has its own characteristics. Simply put, the injection mold uses the “injection + pressure” mode, the blow mold uses the “injection + blow” mode, and the injection is a solid core body, and the blow is an empty core body. In addition, the mold made by injection molding process has a sprue section, and the mold made by blow molding process has an uneven surface and a blowing mouth.

Injection molding is thermoplastic injection molding. This method is to melt the plastic material and then inject it into the membrane cavity. Once the melted plastic enters the mold, it will be cold formed and processed into the desired shape, and the shape obtained is often the final shape of the finished product. In addition, injection molding process can be very good control of details, for example

Bumps, ribs, threads and other parts can be molded in one step in injection molding.

Blow molding, also known as hollow blow molding, is a rapidly developing plastic processing method. Its processing principle is as follows: the thermoplastic resin or the tubular plastic billet obtained by injection molding is placed in the mold, and then compressed air is injected after the mold is closed, so that the plastic billet is blown and close to the inner wall of the mold, and then through cooling demoulding, finally get the desired hollow products.

It is worth mentioning that the manufacturing process of blown film is very similar to that of hollow products in principle, but its production does not use molds, which are completely different from the processing of injection molds in this point. From the point of view of the classification of plastic processing technology, the molding process of blow molded film is usually included in the extrusion process. According to the production method of billet, blow molding can be divided into extrusion blow molding and injection blow molding, the new development of multi-layer blow molding and tensile blow molding.

Through the above introduction, I believe we have a certain understanding of these two processing technologies. In fact, the main difference between injection mold and blow mold is the form of the product. The products made by injection molding process are usually thicker, relatively simple to make, and the requirements for raw materials are relatively low. The blow molding process is different. The products produced are thin and transparent, and it is easy to see the slight shortcomings. Because of this, the processing requirements of blow molding die are higher, and there are certain requirements on the toughness and tensile properties of raw materials.

Injection mold and blow mold are widely used in daily life, and each has its own characteristics and advantages. Its processing technology is also improving year by year, and it has a good prospect for development in the future.
